Kivubelt Coffee, the owner of Kamajumba farm, was founded in 2011 by Furaha Umwizeye Teuscher’s company, Teuscher Invest. After it acquired more than 200 acres of land in Gihombo, it has planted more than 90,000 coffee trees, set up washing stations across multiple districts, and partnered with more than 200 farmers.
The Red Bourbon grown here is soft, creamy, and has notes of red berry and red currant. Harvest season is between February and May, after which the coffee is washed. Farmers sort the coffee by hand at the farm and at the washing stations, to separate ripe and unripe cherries and to maintain strict quality control. The cherries are floated and pulped before being dry-fermented for 8-12 hours.
